Hailing from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, it could be said that Kathryn Mayerson is a product of her environment. The majestic Rocky mountains to the west and the simple, honest prairies to the east both find a metaphoric place in her art.
Kathryn  began her artistic adventure in the mid 1980’s while living in Manitoba. She studied watercolour, acrylics and oils under various well-known Manitoban artists, which included workshops and seminars throughout Manitoba and the United States. Kathryn was a member of the Winnipeg Sketch Club and several painting groups based in Southern Manitoba where she exhibited her work and worked as an art instructor.

In 1996 she returned to her native home and took a break in her artistic endeavours until 2009 . Her style could be described as contemporary abstract,  while her intention is to engage the viewer with heart felt emotion and a touch of attitude . Kathryn regenerates herself by returning to nature where she sketches, photographs or does thumbnail watercolour studies.  She incorporates her skills in experimentation using mixed media.

In October 2011, Kathryn became an Elected Member of the Society Of Canadian Artists through a jury process. She is a member of other artist groups in Calgary and the surrounding area. As an appointed member of the Board of Arts and Culture for the town of High River she is able to incorporate her artistic and business skills. Her work is displayed in corporate offices and private collections worldwide.
